X-Industries officially began in 2022, as its owner finally decided to take it seriously as a project rather than as a hobby. At this point, the company released its first four-and-a-half pieces of software on Codeberg:
- Circa – A tool to take circular screenshots
- Helios Compass – A simple command-line file manager
- DrawingBoard – A basic paint program
- Cerise (formerly Helios Media Player) – A multimedia player
- monty.py – A short text adventure based on the “Bridge of Death” scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail
About a year afterward, X-Industries began working on its first flagship product: the Magellan web browser. This browser is, as of August 2023, incomplete; but it is improving at a steady rate and should be out of alpha soon.
